ピラミッド＝オリオン座説は、ロバート・ボーヴァルRobert Bauvalが発見した（『オリオン・ミステリー』参照）。

ボーヴァルの発見は、ピラミッド番組などで紹介されるが、その意義は正当に評価されているとは言えない。

（メンカウラー王の小ピラミッドは、本当は、ほかの二基と同じ大きさにする予定だったのだろう、という反論も、本書で証明された当時のオリオン信仰〜それはシュメール経由であり太陽神ラーと対立し消滅寸前だったと思われる〜を否定できない。）

10,500年前の星の位置を意図しただけであってピラミッド製造年がその年とは限らないとは思うが、、、

その説は十分科学的であり、トンデモ本として回収するべきではない。

今日ではメキシコのテオティワカンのピラミッドも相似系だとされているし、世界各国のオリオン信仰(あるいは太陽信仰との相克)の再発見は途上にある。

ちなみに、より厳密には魂の再生を願う民間信仰は以下の推移をたどっていると思う。
トーテム信仰（スフィンクスを含む）→星信仰（航海での位置把握手段。北極星信仰を含む）→太陽信仰（権力者の統制の強化と併行）→歴史忘却及び再発見（現代）。

日本では住吉大社、古代古墳にオリオン信仰の跡がみられる。

住吉大社は海の神として信仰されているが、もともとは「みたらし星」の神だったのではないかという説がある。

みたらし星とはオリオン座の三つ星のことである。
三つ星のそばにもうひとつ小さい星があって、本当は三つ星ではなく四つ星なのだが。

住吉大社の境内には同じ大きさ、同じ作りの社が四つあり、そのいずれもが本宮とされている。
奥から、

底筒男命 (そこつつのをのみこと)を祀る第一本宮、
中筒男命 (なかつつのをのみこと)を祀る第二本宮、
表筒男命 (うわつつのをのみこと)を祀る第三本宮、
第三本宮の東が神功皇后＝息長足姫命 (おきながたらしひめのみこと)を祀る第四本宮

となっている。

その社の配置がみたらし星の配置に似ているというのだ。 



また底筒男命・中筒男命 ・表筒男命の神名にある『筒』は星の神であることを示すものだという説もある。
どういうわけか、記紀神話には星の神はたった一柱・天津甕星しか登場しない。

ところが『上記（うえつふみ）』という文書の中には多くの星の神が登場する。
そして星の神は、トムツツ（北極星）、アカユツツ（ペテルギウス）、イユキツツ（スピカ）などのように、ツツという音がついている。

24．住吉大社の秘密 　秦氏のレイライン（図４１）が示していたものは、スサノオだった。 　そのレイラインの上に、住吉大社が乗っている。だが、調べるほどこの神社は秦氏とは異質で、あまり関係しているようには思えない。住吉大社が祭っている神々は、底筒男（ソコツツノオ）、中筒男（ナカツツノオ）、表筒男（ウワツツノオ）という三神と神功皇后である。 　筒男三神はオリオン座の三ツ星を表しているとされる。この三ツ星は航海の神であり、オリオン座の三ツ星が水平線から現れるときこの順で「縦に並んで」現れ、水平線下に沈むとき、再び底筒男を先頭に縦に並んで沈む。その間、南中時にはほぼ水平になり、したがって水夫はこの三ツ星の傾きから方角を知ることができたのである。 　神功皇后がどうかかわっているかといえば、神功皇后が三韓征伐に出かけた時にこの住吉三神に戦勝を祈ったからだ。
　話は変わるが、ロバート・ヴォ―バルという人がいて、この人はギザの三大ピラミッドがオリオンの三ツ星と関係しているということを見抜き、本を書いた『オリオンミステリー』。そこで主張されたのは、クフ王、カフラー王、メンカフラー王という三人の王のピラミッドがオリオンの三ツ星を大地に降ろしたもので、ピラミッドの大きさがそれぞれの星の光度と対応していて、その配置はなんと一万二千五百年前のものだというのだ。星の相対的な見かけの位置は、地球の歳差運動で変化し、それは計算できるからわかったのだ。
　その後驚くべきことに、中国西安でも同様の三つのピラミッドが発見されている（ただしギザとは左右対称の配置）。そして、メキシコ、ティオティワカンの遺跡では月のピラミッド、太陽のピラミッド、ケツァルコアトルの神殿がまさにこの配置になっているという。 　つまり洋の東西を問わず、オリオンの三ツ星は南天に輝く目印なのだ。これらが互いに関連しているかどうかはわからない。ただ、日本でも見つかる同様のモニュメントが住吉大社にもあるということだ。 　
　住吉大社の第一神殿（底筒男）、第二神殿（中筒男）、第三神殿（表筒男）は直線に並び、住吉大社の正門をくぐるとこの順と反対に拝むことになる。ここからが僕の発見なのだが（他の文献には現れないという意味において、もしかしたら調べられていないだけかもしれない）、次の三つの図を見てもらいたい。 　
　最初の図４３はオリオン座を示したものだ。 　
　オリオン座のα星はベテルギウスで赤い巨大な年老いた恒星だ。その右となりがγ（ガンマ）星、そして三ツ星（ゼータ、イプシロン、デルタ）がある。左下がカッパ星、右下がリゲルで青い若い星だそうだ。 　三ツ星の一番右、ゼータ星の下にも星があることに注意してもらいたい。 図４３　オリオン座 　そして次の図４４が、住吉大社配置図をgoogle mapからコピーしてきたものだ。 　まず三つの神殿が中央に見える。そして驚くべきことに一番西側（左側）の神殿の下にやはり神殿が立っているのが見える。この神殿は、神功皇后を祀る拝殿なのだが、この配置はゼータ星の下に見える星と三ツ星との関係に酷似しているではないか。 　これに気がついた僕は、この二つの図を重ねてみた。


図４４　住吉大社の配置図（google map） 　それが次の図だ。 　仰天したなんてものではなく、興奮に躍り上がった。 　どうみても住吉大社の拝殿のそれぞれの配置と、オリオン座の三ツ星以外の配置とが一致している。大海神社拝殿は、ベテルギウスであり、后土社はガンマ星に一致する。カッパ星は南西の端をあらわし、β星は南東の境界にほぼ一致する。

そしてリゲルは、マップからはみ出ているように見える。 　だが、この位置にはどうやら丸山大明神を指し示しているようだ。この丸山大明神の説明書き（現地）を読むと、住吉大社の祭神の一柱である神功皇后から二代後の応仁天皇の治世に、応仁天皇皇子の墨江中王という方がおり、この方が住吉一族（安曇族）とともに後の履中天皇に対して反乱を起こしたのが鎮圧されたというエピソードがある。この墨江中王という方を住吉大社に寄り添う安曇族が祀ったというのが、オリオン座のリゲルに見立てられているのだ。 　住吉大社を建てた人々は、オリオン座そのものを大地に降ろした。その配置が今も残されていることに、驚きと敬服を憶える。 　この住吉大社のオリオン座もレイラインを構成していると思うと、神秘的ですらある。
