映画館で列に並んでいるシーンはさらに手が込んでいます。彼が大好きなイタリアの巨匠フェリーニの悪口をいう見知らぬ脚にイライラさせられ、さらにその男が、メディア論で有名なマーシャル・マクルーハンの言葉を引き合いに出すと彼はカメラに向かって、「こういう時、あなたならどうしますか？」と訴え始めます。すると、その人物は「私はコロンビア大学でテレビ媒体と文化の講義を担当している。私のマクルーハン論には正当性があるんだ」と言い返します。すると、ウディは「面白い。ちょうど本人がいるから」といってマクルーハン本人を登場させ、その人物をへこませてしまうのです。「こう上手くゆけばね」とカメラに語りかけるウディ。こうなると、もう観客はウディの共犯者であり、友人です。

			(To the man in line) 
		I hear-I heard what you were saying.
